In October 2017, the Brennaman family’s American Eskimo dog, Gracie, passed away after a long battle with lymphoma. One of Gracie’s best friends was the cat named Baby Grey, who lived next door.
For over a year since Gracie’s death, Baby Grey has continued to visit the Brennamans’ porch every day for 20 minutes in anticipation of her friend coming home. Even though Grace has been gone for over a year, Baby Grey still waits faithfully for her return.
“Grace adored nature and spent most of her time outside. She was a kind and friendly dog and loved all animals, from chipmunks to rabbits and even hawks. When the cat came into our backyard two and a half years ago, they became friends right away,” said Shea Belew Brennaman, owner of the dead dog from Alabama.
According to the owner, what the pair of friends liked best was lying in the sun and eating tomatoes, “My Gracie was always a generous hostess. We’d leave her tomatoes on the porch, which she just loved. And she shared them with her cat, which meant a lot. Little Grey would come over every day and eat tomatoes and sunbathe together. The animals seemed to find each other’s soul mates.”
The Brennaman family fondly remembers the days when Grace and Baby Grey were together. Even though the American Eskimo dog passed away, her friendship with the cat remains.
“Since Grace’s death, the cat has come to us several times a week. First, she comes to the door looking for her friend. Then she waits on the porch for a long time, can sit and stare at the door for 20 minutes, then lies down and suns herself, and after a while, she leaves.
This has been going on for a year now. And it breaks my heart and gives me hope and inspiration. Between these animals, there was such an incredible friendship, such a strong bond, which even among people is challenging to meet, ”- said the touched hostess.
The Brennaman family is touched by Baby Grey’s loyalty and willingness to wait for Gracie even after she has gone. Her faithfulness and dedication to their friendship are examples of true love and friendship that will forever be remembered. The Brennamans are thankful to have a loyal friend like Baby Grey in their lives and hope she can find comfort in knowing that Gracie will always be remembered.
The Brennaman’s are also thankful for all the beautiful moments they had with Grace and Baby Grey and cherish them forever. It is a testament to how far friendship can reach; even after one of them has gone, the other still remember their bond.
Baby Grey will forever be an inspiration for true friendship’s power and beauty. She will always be remembered for her loyalty and dedication to Gracie, who will never be forgotten. In the end, their friendship will remain strong even after death.
