Nalle, the one-and-a-half-year-old cat from Karlskrona, Sweden, has been awarded “Hero Cat of the Year” for saving his owner Annie Narvefors from a house fire.
23-year-old Annie Narvefors from Karlskrona in southern Sweden told The Local newspaper about this incident. More and more Swiss learned about it from the evening show of the Swedish public broadcaster SVT.
“That morning, I woke up because Nalle pushed me with his paw. I was annoyed and wanted to scold the cat, but when I turned over to the other side, I smelled burning plastic.
“I had left my cell phone charger on overnight, and it started to smoke. Cat saved us from a potential fire!”
After that, the cat even became famous. The news about Nalle’s award as a hero became one of the most spread on the Swedish viral news site Sociala Nyheter.
Nalle’s story has been spread all over the internet, with people praising him for his bravery. People have commented on social media saying, “A real-life hero in action” and “What an amazing cat – we should all learn a lesson from him.”
“I work as a nurse and have had several patients who had bought every paper Nalle has been featured in and even watched him when he was on TV,” she told The Local. “It’s great to see him making other people happy too, not just me.”
Annie is highly grateful to her feline friend, saying, “If it wasn’t for Nalle, I don’t know what would have happened. He is an amazing cat and deserves all the recognition he can get!”
But there is a more serious side to the story, which comes after recent reports of mobile phone chargers overheating. Narvefors admitted the experience had made her more careful from now on.
“After it happened, I was scared to charge my phone at night in case it would burn. So now I don’t, and I unplug it as soon as the battery is full.”
It isn’t the first time Nalle has shown his heroism – he once saved Annie’s younger sister from a dog attack. Congratulations, Nalle – you deserve it!
