While driving down a busy Malaysian highway with his son, Masz thought he saw a piece of plastic hugging the side of the road.
To his horror, Masz Mauri discovered that it wasn’t a plastic bag; he thought, a living creature – a white cat!
Masz quickly stepped on the brakes and lept from the car. He ran up to the cat, squeezed tightly against the barrier, shivering in terror at all the traffic roaring by.
This cat was fortunate to have found Masz, the co-founder of Kitty Konnexion Community. This organization provides aid and support to stray cats in Malaysia and Singapore. When Masz found this cat, he was shaking in fear and covered in his feces, yet he never fought when Masz picked him up to take him away from that place.
He quickly put the cat in the back of his car and named him Danga Boy. The feline hid underneath the seat, meowing loudly–relieved to no longer be on the side of a busy highway.
“As Danga Boy was dragged across the road – either through a harness or leash – it probably tumbled and fractured its leg when it got loose,” Masz said.
Danga Boy was found with a severely fractured leg that impeded his movement, though it is unknown how he got there. Since Masuri transported him to a veterinary facility, Danga Boy has received care. Masuri quickly found a new family for Danga Boy by sharing images of him on social media that same night.
“A kind-hearted individual stepped in to help this person and asked that we not reveal their name…so that they could maintain their privacy,” Masuri said. “We understand and respect that.”
“The team easily handled the bills, and we stopped looking for additional financial help.”
Danga Boy will be discharged from the vet on Sunday, going to his new home, where several other cats live.
“He will be a very happy kitty with multiple siblings waiting for him at home,” said Masuri.
Since Danga Boy is a typical stray, getting anyone to adopt him is usually challenging. So I was thrilled when I got a response before the day ended. Now, this lucky cat has a second chance at life. Thanks to Masz and the Kitty Konnexion Community, he is safe, healthy, and loved.
