Many people think that when they take their dog for a walk, they’ll only find a stick to play fetch. But one man’s walk with his dog turned into something much more special than that.
Bob found a tiny kitten lying on the ground near his school. The kitten was almost lifeless, and it was clear it would die if nobody took it in. So Bob and his wife took the kitten home, cleaned it up, and gave it a name – Buddy. It is their story.
As Bob told us, he and his dog were out for a walk when they turned towards the school. His dog started to run off-leash as dogs sometimes do, but then she stopped suddenly and looked at something on the ground. She seemed scared of whatever it was, so Bob hurried over to her just in case. As he got closer, he saw that it was a kitten – almost lifeless and covered in blood.
Bob quickly brought the kitten home, where he and his wife cleaned her up and gave her a name: Buddy. They contacted their local animal shelter to see whether they could take the kitten there but were told that if nobody claimed her within the next few days, she would be put up for adoption. So Bob and his wife decided to take Buddy in temporarily until they could find her a forever home.
At first, Buddy was very weak and almost unresponsive. She had blood all over one of her eyes and seemed terrified of everything around her, including Bob’s dog, who was very gentle and patient. The baby was trembling, and fleas were jumping on it. But slowly, over the next few days, Buddy began to recover. She even started playing with Bob’s dog and other pets in the household. And although it took a while, she eventually found a forever home with a family who loved her very much.
“After all the procedures, we took the kitten home. My son quickly built a house for it in a shoebox and covered it with a blanket. Buddy ate for the first time in the evening, improving his health. I was so happy to have a new member of my family. I posted pictures of Buddy on social media, and people began sending me their stories about how they also took sick animals to their house and got better.” — said the woman.
“The kitten needed a lot of procedures: dripping eyes, injections, etc. But now it feels great. We are so grateful that we happened to cross paths with this tiny, dying kitten – without him, we would never have learned so much about the kindness and bravery of others. We will always love you, Buddy!”
