Recently, the Kutcher family was moving from their home in Bridgeport, West Virginia, to Morgantown when they realized their cat was missing. They searched high and low but couldn’t find him anywhere. Eventually, they had to make the tough decision to leave without him and hope for the best.
“We knew we had some time to keep going back to look for our kitty-cat,” said Coachman with a sad smile, “so we were still hopeful.”
Although it pained them greatly to do so, they left Bridgeport behind with a promise that they’d return every weekend until he was found.
The family was returning, but they couldn’t find Oliver. Their son began to sob when they understood that the cat was nowhere. Their son suffered much without his friend, so the parents decided to get him another red cat.
Nine-year-old Halie’s son held onto an orange Beanie Baby for weeks, hoping his real cat, Oliver, would return.
Kutscher said, “We were completely unprepared to explain to the child at such an early age about dealing with the death of a pet.”
Eventually, they sold their house and never returned. So they had to forget about Oliver. The hardest thing was to explain it to their son.
His parents told him how much they loved cats and hoped he would find his way home.
The family did not suspect that the cat was very near. A few weeks later, they saw a set of ears they knew all too well in their yard. That was Oliver. But it was tough to believe in it.
Kutscher said, “He was staring up at us. I scooped him right up in my arms as soon as we got inside. I dropped to my knees and just held him, sobbing. He stayed with me as the rest of the family and pets gathered around him.”
Later, a scan chip at the vet using a microchip confirmed what the family already knew—Oliver had found his way home by himself.
Oliver is an actual miracle cat, and his story is truly incredible. Oliver did find his way home – 40 kilometers from where his family had moved! Kutscher said he only looked exhausted and delighted to be home–not terrified, hesitant, or anything else.
This is a fantastic story of love, determination, and the power of the bond between humans and their animal companions. It shows that anything possible with a bit of hope and perseverance!
