You rarely hear a story of an unlikely friendship between a boy and his adopted senior cat, but that is precisely what happened in Newfoundland, Canada.
Their owner surrendered two senior cats, one male, and one female, to Exploits Valley SPCA due to unfortunate circumstances. The shelter began actively looking for new homes for the cats, knowing how much more difficult it can be to adopt older cats. It is good that the cats were not too attached and could look for a home separately. This is much faster than if they were inseparable.
Older cats can have a tough time adapting to new homes, so things looked bleak for Tiny because he was overweight.
Suddenly, Easton came into Tiny’s life. Easton is a boy whose mother told him he could choose a pet, a dog or a cat. Easton went online to the Exploits Valley SPCA Adoptables Facebook page, saw Tiny’s picture, and decided that Tiny was the cat for him!
Easton and his mom went to the shelter to meet Tiny, and they bonded immediately. Even though the cover described Tiny as shy, he was far from it when he met Easton. On the way home from the shelter, Easton let Tiny out of the stroller, and the big older cat walked right up to the boy, sat on his lap, and cuddled up to him.
Easton’s mother said that Tiny and Easton only grew closer during their first months together. “Easton loved Tiny because Tiny loved him. He never shied away from him the second he saw him,” she said.
Sadly, Tiny passed away earlier this year, but Easton and his family will never forget their special bond. “Tiny was an amazing cat, and we feel so lucky to have had him in our lives,” said Easton’s mother. “He changed our lives for the better, and we will always love him.”
It’s clear that these two have formed an unlikely but unbreakable bond with each other, and we’re so happy that they found each other!
