A Homeless Three-Legged Cat, Who Had A Lot of Hardships, Could Not Overcome a Terrible Disease!

Bubby, the three-legged cat, was indeed a remarkable creature. An older man, Boyd Abbott, took him in as a foster cat almost ten years ago, and the two of them quickly bonded.

Bubby would follow Mr. Abbott around the house and loved to be scratched behind his ear. But most of all, Bubby was content around people – he was always waiting at the door for Mr. Abbott to come home from work.

In 2017, Boyd Abbott sadly passed away. His daughter continued to put out food for Bubby, and even though he didn’t stay around the house like he used to, she knew he was still somewhere.

A few months after her father’s death, a picture of Bubby appeared on the page of a local shelter. It turned out that, through the efforts of a friend, Boyd Abbott had made sure that Bubby found a permanent family.

Bubby initially trusted the man when he tried to help fetch the cat, but the animal proved more difficult than anticipated. After disappearing for several months, Bubby showed up on Abbott’s friend’s porch with frostbite and injuries. He was then referred to a shelter where he began his new life.

Recently, on St. Patrick’s Day, an elderly cat named Bubby went over the rainbow to his friend Boyd. This follows him being helped by a volunteer named Sarah and going to her home – it was only recently that he made this journey. Sarah and Abbott believe that he has lived a wonderfully entire life before this event.

Although we are all unfortunate to see him go, we are happy that he is finally at peace and reunited with his friend.

“ We had to say goodbye to Bubby. I’m sorry to bring everyone such sad news, and I have struggled to write this post.

Bubby was just extraordinary; I could hardly believe he was genuine, and I felt so lucky to have him for however long we could. He was ours for all of 2020 and made it easy to be stuck at home. He needed us, but we needed him too.

We loved him as best as possible for as long as possible. He was the most demanding cat in the world, all 7 pounds. Of all his battles, his last one was fighting cancer, and he hung on longer than anyone expected. It was hard to let him go, but he went gracefully in the end.

My heart is broken, missing him; he was a magical character. He knew that. Everyone who met him loved him.

I want to say thank you to his vet Amanda & all the staff at Mid Island Animal Health Center. For saving him twice, answering all my questions, making medication changes, and helping me say goodbye in the end.

There won’t be another cat like Bubby, but he represents the seniors and handicapped rescue animals who need you. I hope he can inspire people to adopt them. It’s not about your time with them but their time with you.”

This was written by the cat’s owner on his Instagram page. As you can see, Bubby was an extraordinary cat to those who knew him, and he will be deeply missed.
