When the staff at Noah’s Ark Animal Hospital received a call about an elderly cat found alone in a parking lot, they knew they had to act fast.
“We got an anonymous call to the hospital in November 2013. The caller asked us to check the lower parking lot,” said Rachel Keyes.
The poor kitty was emaciated and weighed only 7 pounds – he was in bad shape. After a complete examination, it was discovered that the cat had stage two kidney failure, among many other diseases. The staff worked tirelessly to bring the kitten back to health and to adopt him into a loving home once he fully recovered. They named him Billy.
Billy was healthy and thriving three years later, having been transformed into a beautiful office cat at the hospital. But soon, there was a surprise.
After the father and daughter reached the hospital, they were then greeted by Billy. The father told the receptionist that Billy looked like the cat Tuffo they had lost some years ago.
When Billy returned, he jumped on the counter and did something he had never done before.
“He would never jump over the front desk, but this time he did,” said Keyes. “It was obvious that Billy recognized these people.”
Three years ago, during a move, the family lost their cat. Despite searching high and low all over town, they couldn’t find him. They assumed he had run away, and, over time, they grieved his loss. But they were shocked when they walked into Noah’s Ark Animal Hospital and saw Billy. It was immediately evident that this was their cat – the one they thought they’d lost forever.
Later that day, they brought in Billy’s twin brother. As soon as Coton saw him, Billy started to purr and seemed happy to see his family again.
Billy (now Tuffo) was reunited with his long-lost brother and his human family. It just goes to show that with a little bit of love and care, even the sickest of animals can make a full recovery. And sometimes, they even find their way back home. It’s a heartwarming story that reminds us of the special bond between humans and animals.
