14-Year-Old Boy Rescues Cat Thrown From Truck Van and Left on Road

Gavin Orlowski from Grand Rapids, Michigan, is being called a hero after he saved a cat that was thrown out of a truck and left on the road. Gavin and his mother were crossing a bridge when they heard her scream in terror. They turned around and saw someone in the van ahead of them had just thrown a gray tiger cat out the window. The van took off before they could identify it.

Gavin jumped out of the car, and the frightened cat dangled between other vehicles. While Gavin blocked the traffic, the cat was hanging on the overpass. He was able to grab it and put it back in the car before it was hit. The cat was so traumatized that it huddled in Gavin’s coat, refusing to leave him. His claws were torn off, and he injured his back when he fell from the van. Gavin and his mother took him to BluePearl Animal Hospital.

Gavin is being praised for his quick thinking and heroic actions.

Gavin and his mother adopt a cat and name him Lucky. They are still dumbfounded by the van driver, who chooses to abandon Lucky on a busy bridge instead of simply giving him away or letting him go. Gavin says he hopes the driver is caught and punished for his actions.

The cat is now inseparable from Gavin, constantly following his rescuer around the house and sleeping on his bed. Gavin’s mother says the cat has brought so much joy to their family, and she is grateful to her son for his brave actions.
