Dog Jumps Into Water To Save Baby Deer Who Was Drowning In Lake

Dogs are often considered to be man’s best friend, but this dog in Virginia has taken that title one step further by becoming the best friend of a fawn.

Last week, a dog named Harley jumped into a lake and swam alongside the deer as it struggled to stay afloat. The mother deer soon took her fawn away, but the next day the two animals were reunited. That morning, Harley was running from window to window; when he opened the door, they heard an animal crying. Sure enough, it was a deer that had stopped crying when Harley arrived.

“I couldn’t find Harley this evening until I looked on the lake. He was near the middle of the lake, herding a little fawn back to the shoreline. Not sure how the fawn got out there, but Harley didn’t ask why; he just jumped into action.”

Mama did come back.

The story continues. This morning Harley got restless running from window to window. I opened the front door, and we could hear the fawn bleating. Harley ran into the tree line and found the fawn. The little one stopped bleating, tail wagging, they touched noses sniffed each other, and Harley came calmly back to the house with me.” – Wrote Ralph Dorn on his Facebook.

“We could tell right away that he had such a good heart, even when he was a puppy,” Dorn said. “He’s always been like that with kids and animals. He loves them all.”

This story is a heartwarming reminder of the special bond that can form between two animals, even if they are of different species. It just goes to show that dogs are man’s best friend.
