In Australia, a paralyzed cat was discovered crawling back to where she had left her newborn kittens. Dee Waltzan of Sawyers Gully Animal Rescue stated that the mother cat was assaulted by her neighbor, who grabbed her by the tail and pushed her onto a trailer. The cat was confined in a man’s yard.
A few hours later, at nightfall, Dee received another email. Another rescue team showed up to pick up the one-week-old kittens; however, their mother’s corpse remained where it was.
The next day, something miraculous happened. Princess was discovered to be alive, albeit confused and disoriented. She had crawled back to the location of her kittens using only her front legs – her hind legs were paralyzed from the attack.
Princess was taken to a veterinarian, where she is expected to recover fully—and will be reunited with her siblings once they are old enough to leave the rescue center.
Her desire came true when she was discovered alive and taken to RSPCA with her kittens. Since the princess had microchips, they could locate her owner and persuade them to give up and abandon the cat in their care.
After hearing her words, Dee showed an interest in caring for the princess and her kid, announcing that the entire family was with him.
The Princess will remain paralyzed for the rest of her life. She cannot urinate or defecate on her own. She is a special needs cat who will spend the rest of her life at Sawyers Gully Animal Rescue, her new home.
Princess will remain with her kittens until they are of age, at which point she will be given a wheelchair to help with mobility. For now, she is content with being surrounded by her loved ones and finally has the happily ever after she deserves.
Despite what happened to her, Princess is a symbol of hope and resilience—a genuine survivor who will never give up on her family. Thanks to the quick thinking of those who rescued her, she now has a second chance at life. And, in turn, she will continue to give hope and love to all those who meet her.
Author Note: When I read stories like this, it fills my heart with hope and happiness. There’s something about animals that have a way of touching our lives in the most unexpected ways. I’m so glad that Princess and her kittens are doing well!
