Cat Saved Baby From Starvation When Her Mother Suddenly Had a Heart Attack

A considerable cat saved the life of a small resident of Madrid, who was trapped in an apartment with her dead mother. When the little owner ran out of breath to cry, the animal kept meowing loud even though she passed away quietly.

As it became known, the baby girl, born last January, was a hostage of circumstances. Her 38-year-old mother, Maria, informed her relatives not so long ago that she would take her little daughter to the country house.

Her relatives could not reach her for several days afterward but assumed it was due to poor communication.

On Saturday, the little girl’s grandmother still requested that her family visit Madrid to see her daughter. She could not enter the apartment but heard Maria’s beloved cat mewing at the door. The older woman became suspicious and phoned for a locksmith to open the door.

The specialist noted an odd smell and told the woman to call the doctor. However, by the time they arrived, it was too late – doctors said she had passed at least three days prior. Her daughter, however, was still alive but in a highly emaciated state.

According to the family, the woman was observed drunk regularly. Several years ago, the father of her eldest son tumbled out of the same apartment’s window, but he survived. The promiscuous woman used to work as a translator, but recently she had been living a miserable life.

The filth in the apartment was apparent from how dirty it was: garbage filled the corridor and rooms. The two older children were brought up by their fathers (unrelated to one another).

Maria’s grandparents will now raise her daughter. The parents hope the custodial staff will allow them to take in the cat that saved the girl’s life. Medical examiners are to determine the cause of Maria’s death, which may have been poisoning or a heart attack.

The electricity and gas in the house were cut off, but there was enough oxygen for the cat to survive. The animal was also fragile, and he likely did not have anything to eat either.

However, without George, the infant girl would have perished. Nobody knows whether she could have been saved if it were not for the cat George. She would have died after a few more hours, maybe even on the day she was found.
