Pregnant Cat Came Into the House, But She Couldn’t Get Out

In Istanbul, Turkey, a stray cat was looking for food. She was pregnant and wandering the streets looking for a haven. She eventually gave birth in an apartment building, but unfortunately, they were not allowed to stay.

Fearing they would be taken to a shelter or abandoned on the streets, a concerned resident contacted Ahsen, an animal rescuer, to see if she could foster them.

“When they contacted me, I said “bring them to me” before I even had a chance to see a picture,” Ahsen said. “I saw the mother’s big emerald green eyes and decided to name her Zumrut.”

Zumrut never left her kittens’ side during the first few weeks and cared for their needs. Whenever Ahsen came to visit, Zumrut gently placed her paw on Ahsen’s hand to ask for some love.

It was a team effort for the two. The loving mother kept her kittens fed and clean, while Ahsen ensured she never missed a meal by bringing food or hand-feeding her throughout the day. Consequently, the kittens grow up and find their forever homes upon adoption.

Zumrut, on the other hand, still lives with Ahsen to this day. “She’s such a sweet and gentle cat,” Ahsen said. “I can’t imagine my life without her.”

“Finding an appropriate adopter for Zumrut was tough because she didn’t want to live with anyone but me, and it took her some time to adjust,” Ahsen continued.

Not only has Zumrut blossomed with confidence, but she has also become an aggressive family cat. From a sad stray cat, she turned into a bold domestic cat! “I’m so grateful that I was able to save her and her kittens,” Ahsen said. “She’s truly a special cat.”
