In the small town of Springdale, Arkansas, a kitten needed help. The kitten, later named Pretzel, had a crushed and rotting leg. Dr. Matt, a veterinary surgeon in the town, came to the rescue!
This kitten was found at the door of someone’s house. It fought so desperately for life that with its injuries, it crawled to the house, the people, and its salvation!
Pretzel’s leg was not only crushed, but part of the tissue was infected and rotting. As it turned out, Prezel’s front leg was also paralyzed. The doctor did not want to leave the animal without two legs, so he did not amputate the back leg completely, only a part.
A week post-op, Pretzel was able to walk on his own again! It wasn’t easy, but Dr. Matt’s call to turn a crushed leg into a peg leg saved the day.
Pretzel, on the other hand, has taken to life with aplomb. Although she still can’t walk using one of her front legs, she lives it up to the hilt. She was allowed to be the fun, energetic, and distinctive kitten she was always intended to be.
Pretzel was so adorable that the clinic staff refused to give her up for foster care. Instead, Pretzel was adopted as a pet at the clinic and became an official staff member! What a happy ending for such a sweet kitten.
