Rescuers Took A Cat From The Street, And After 6 Days, They Learned One Thing About Her

The Best Friends Felines is a non-profit, foster-based rescue group dedicated to rescuing and rehoming abandoned, abused and neglected cats in the Brisbane area.

When pregnant cat Rico was abandoned by her previous owner, the Best Friends Felines rescue group in Brisbane, Australia, stepped up to help. The group took Rico into their last-litter program and helped her through the birth of her six kittens. Despite being enormously pregnant, Rico could still jump to the top of her favorite cat tree after just a few days. Talk about a fantastic mother!

Rico immediately assumed his motherly responsibilities, feeding six hungry mouths and ensuring they were meticulously clean. She continued to attempt to win the favor of her foster carer, her primary source of assistance, every time she entered the room. He stayed close to his kittens and rarely left them for the first week. She ate what was served in bed and was fulfilled throughout the day.

She would withdraw from the nest for additional time alone with her people, attracting even more attention.

“By seven days, all six kittens had the most adorable chubby little tummies. Their eyes were still closed but excited to explore the world.”

The kittens were two weeks old when they each started to move one by one. “They went from squiggly jelly beans, barely able to keep their heads up, to tiny active kittens ready to explore the world around them.”

Several kittens took their first steps, raising their tummies off the ground, followed quickly by rolling over. “Playing at this age is amazing; you can roll around, wave your legs in the air, and stick gum on your brother’s ears, noses, and faces,” the savior added.

“As they grow more comfortable with us, their personalities shine. They’ll snuggle up with us between bursts of activity, running around the room and jumping on the cat tree.”
