Meet Ducks; a tabby kitten brought to a clinic in Florida with severe injuries – both of his front paws were mutilated. Due to his young age, the surgeons at the clinic decided to perform a double amputation and give him a chance at life. Ducks were then taken in by a foster family who gave him the name “Ducks” and helped him adapt to life without his front paws.
His foster family has helped him every step, teaching him how to use his remaining legs to play, eat, and even go to the bathroom.
While Ducks will never be able to use his front paws again, he has shown us that nothing is impossible with a bit of love and determination.
Despite her tiny stature, Duck watches over the dogs in the home and absorbs new skills from them. As a result, she now considers herself half-dog.
“She follows the dogs around and tries to do everything they do,” said Brie. “If one of them lays down on their side, she’ll lay down on her side. If they sit up, she’ll try to sit up.”
Ducks have even managed to learn how to use a doggy door.
“She was so determined to get outside that she just kept trying until she finally figured it out,” said Brie. “Now she loves going in and out whenever she wants.”
Duck is an amazing little cat who has overcome so much in such a short amount of time. Thanks to his foster family, he has learned how to live a happy and fulfilling life without his front paws.
