Four boxes were found in a quiet alleyway in English Stratford. The tape was tightly wrapped around every one of them, stacking them on top. If you didn’t know, you would have just walked right past it – the only giveaway was the screams from inside.
Passersby quickly called for help, not knowing what was inside the cardboard containers. Rescue workers arrived just in time; they cut open the boxes to find 11 cats sitting inside, suffocating. Each cat only had a few hours left of air. It’s a miracle that they were found when they were. Who would do something like this – leave them with no food or water, let alone an air supply? The cats are now safe and sound, but it’s a mystery who did this and why.
In total, 11 cats were rescued by volunteers. All the cats were a year old or more, with one black and white cat and the rest being redheads. The volunteers concluded that these animals were related to each other based on their behavior. Furthermore, it was evident that until recently, these pets had owners who took care of them because they were well-fed and groomed. These felines weren’t scared of people either; on the contrary, they wanted to be held and show affection when touched. After being spayed/neutered and vaccinated, the cats will be adopted.
This heartwarming story has a happy ending but highlights a severe issue – animal cruelty. If you see something suspicious, please don’t hesitate to report it.
