A family in Las Vegas found two small kittens abandoned on their balcony. The tiny felines were shivering and trying to find warmth in the chilly weather, so the compassionate people took them inside and waited for their mother to return. Unfortunately, she never did. After two days of no sign of the mother cat, the family brought the kittens to Patricia Leakey, an experienced kitten trainer.
Leakey took the kittens in and started to bottle-feed them because they were too young to eat alone. She also placed them in an incubator to ensure their bodies stayed warm. “It became clear that we had to intervene to save their lives and then focus on finding and capturing their mother,” shared Patricia.
“At first, we had feeding problems,” she added. “We didn’t know when they had last eaten, so we had to be careful not to overfeed them and cause more problems.”
Thankfully, with a lot of love and care, the kittens are doing well and continuing to grow bigger and stronger daily.
They got the mother cat away with the aid of a local animal rescue. She was severely injured and could not look after her kittens. The kittens, affectionately called Bagel and Croissant, were constantly surrounded by love and hugs of toys.
To ensure the twins were on a level playing field, Patricia’s husband helped with feedings so they could eat simultaneously. The Bagel and Croissant soon became healthy babies.
As soon as they entered the spacious arena, they got to work on their legs and perfect their gait.
The family is grateful to Patricia for all her help in getting the kittens to where they are today. They also look forward to the day they can finally take them home.
The moral of this story is to always be on the lookout for animals in need and never give up hope.
