When three kittens were found abandoned and huddled together in a box on the side of the road, they were brought to IndyHumane. The staff knew they would need to find foster homes for the kittens as soon as possible, as they were just five weeks old and still needed their vaccinations and deworming treatments. Thankfully, through the power of social media and word-of-mouth, three loving families stepped up to take in each kitten until they could be permanently adopted.
Cara was the most vocal with his grump—despite all the hissing and spitting, there was no mean bone in her body. It was all bark and no bite. Valencia was quietly wedged between her sisters and the carrier. She timidly looked at her foster mom with those sad doe eyes and was too afraid to move. Cutie was the smallest of the bunch and also the calmest. She seemed to know that she and her siblings were finally safe.
The kittens received their vaccinations and deworming treatments at IndyHumane and were spayed/neutered before leaving their forever homes. Cara, Valencia, and Cutie are now healthy, happy, and loved.
The first kitten, Cara, went to live with the Smith family. They already had two cats of their own, so they were familiar with the care that kittens require. Cara quickly became one of the family and loved playing with her new feline siblings.
Valencia went to live with the Nguyen family, who had never had a cat. They were excited to learn about caring for a kitten and quickly fell in love with Valencia.
The third kitten, Cutie, went to live with the Johnson family. They also already had two cats, so they were prepared for the challenges of caring for a kitten. Cutie loved snuggling with her new family and quickly made herself at home.
Today, Valencia is a lover of cat toys. She likes to look them all over and try them.
Kara became more confident and adventurous. He is a productive “cookie maker,” and having a soft blanket to knead on makes her the happiest kitty in the world.
Cutie has grown in size and strength and can climb a cat tree in one breath.
This is how life can change for kittens who could die if they were not picked up. But now they have a chance for a long, happy life!
