Juan, who cares for animals in the Bronx, New York, cares for stray and wild cats. He makes sure they are healthy and fed and diligently tries to sterilize and castrate them with the help of local rescuers.
Belladonna was one of those cats that Juan cared about. She was blind, but the man didn’t even notice it right away because the cat was well-versed in the area with the help of its other senses.
Juan saw that Belladonna was getting worse every day. She could barely stand. So he picked her up and took her to the animal rescue service.
There, the man was told that cats have a terrible disease. She was diagnosed with FIP (feline infectious peritonitis). It was difficult to save her; she had a complex case. But rescuers did their best.
Belladonna was put on a course of medication and given a loving home to help her recover.
“Within two days, she walked better, ate more, and showed a little more life in her beautiful blind eyes.”
Belladonna regained her balance and began to walk, taking care of herself and gaining weight. As she became stronger and healthier, her attachment multiplied.
Today, Belladonna is living proof that FIP can be beaten. She is happy and healthy and loves to cuddle with her new family. She is an inspiration to all who meet her and a reminder that even the darkest times can lead to something beautiful.
