Englishwoman Thea Wilson is an ordinary cheerful and cheerful person, a woman who loved to spend time with her friends and attend various events. But after one party, this woman woke up covered in horrible large purple bruises. She looked as if she had been severely beaten.
Only Thea could not remember anything like that. At the same time, she had not taken a drop of alcohol in her mouth that evening. “I have no idea how these huge bruises appeared. They were all over my body,” Thea said bitterly. It’s hard to believe, but even before she went to bed, she felt fine and nothing boded ill.
Since the bruises did not go away on their own, the woman went to the hospital a couple of days later. The doctors immediately sent Thea Wilson for a bone marrow biopsy.
The diagnosis was terrible: a rare form of leukemia that caused bruising and constant fatigue. Thea Wilson had already undergone the first course of chemotherapy at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, as the 37-year-old Englishwoman’s blood was not clotting properly.
Her platelet count was 9, while in a healthy person this figure ranges between 140-400.
Eight months after her diagnosis, Thea is feeling better. The symptoms of the disease have subsided, but she is still far from being cured.
Every twelve weeks, she has to have her blood tested, and so on for the next three years.
“When I was told I had leukemia, my world collapsed in one moment. But it didn’t stop me, and I continue to enjoy life,” says Thea.
“Thea is a strong person. She fearlessly faces adversity and knows how to turn a negative into a positive. This woman has inspired many of us,” says one of the nurses who took care of the patient.
“Thea did everything in her power to recover. Perhaps this helped her to improve her condition faster than the doctors expected. This proves once again that you cannot give up in any situation, you need to be strong and keep fighting, no matter what happens.
