My grandfather died 6 years ago, and my grandmother found comfort in her cat Gabby. Cat was her salvation, because she had no one else. Cat Gabby was always there for her, waiting patiently for her to come home from work or to take a break from gardening. She would lay next to her on the couch while she watched TV or sit on her lap while she read the newspaper. Cat was her loyal companion, and she loved her dearly.
It was a miracle! Years have passed. They grew old together. The time came and my grandmother went to bed. She did not get up and it was very difficult for her. Gabby was always by her side.
When Grandma was gone, Gabby was very imbued with this tragedy. A few hours later, Gabby was gone. My grandmother died peacefully in her sleep, with Gabby by her side. Cat had outlived her human companion, but she stayed by her until the end. She was a loyal friend, and she will never forget her.
They are buried together, and their bond is still as strong as when they were two little old ladies who loved life and each other.
